How to use

Preferably apply the gel 30 minutes before the stressful situation, at the base of the nostrils. One 5 ml sachet works for 2 to 2.5 hours and can be repeated if needed.

How do pheromones work?

Pheromones are natural signalling molecules that animals use to communicate. They are invisible and odourless but recognisable to the horse. They are species-specific: a horse only recognises horse pheromones, not those of a cow, dog or cat.

Pheromones are detected by the Jacobson's organ. You can see this when a horse shows the flehmen response, curling up its upper lip to bring the pheromones to this organ.

A mare releases pheromones for a few days after foaling to create a safe, calm environment and strengthen the bond with her foal. Adult horses also recognise these pheromones and respond to them instinctively with calm.
