Horses naturally have a very complex digestive tract and a very sensitive stomach. Sometimes the stomach needs a little extra support. Pavo GastriCover has been specially developed to promote healthy stomach function: it supports the renewal of the stomach lining and helps neutralise stomach acid.

Neutralising stomach acid

Stomach acid is essential for digestion, but too much or overly acidic stomach acid can damage the stomach wall. Maerl (calcified seaweed) in Pavo GastriCover neutralises stomach acid and also has an anti-inflammatory effect. This helps maintain a healthy pH in the stomach.

Unlike other acid-neutralising ingredients, maerl works gradually and over a long period: stomach acid is neutralised in even amounts over a longer time rather than a lot in a short time. That matters, because too much neutralisation ultimately reduces digestion.

Prebiotics to support stomach and gut

Apple pulp and dried, desugared beet pulp are 100% natural ingredients with a very high pectin content. Pectin forms a gel-like layer on the stomach wall that protects against stomach acid, and also has a prebiotic effect by supporting the growth of good gut bacteria.

Probiotics for digestion and gut flora

Pavo GastriCover is enriched with Biosprint®: a certified live yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) that improves feed digestibility and helps stabilise the gut flora.
